Thermal Insulation Apprenticeship
We have an opportunity for a Thermal Insulation Apprentice to join our company.
The successful person will gain a variety of skills, including how to apply a range of insulation and cladding materials to pipework, vessels and ductwork and how to design and prepare patterns from which to fabricate cladding materials. The job will involve working both locally and away from home.
Apprenticeship Summary
The apprenticeship standard training programme will take up to 24 months to complete and comprises of both on the job training and mentoring, whilst at work, and a formal apprentice training programme at the National Training Centre which you will attend on a block release basis. The National Training Centre for the apprenticeship is located in Darlington, in the North East of England.
Accommodation in Darlington will be provided in approved hotels. Apprentices will receive full training on both on site and in a large, bespoke training workshop at the training centre.
Successful applicants will be required to attend the training centre for 2-week blocks, approximately every 3 months during a maximum of a 24-month period, working onsite in between visits.
Apprentices will be required to complete an end-point assessment (practical competency assessment), apprentices who do not have relevant Maths or English qualifications will be required to undertake this element prior to completing the apprenticeship and assessment.
Duties when at work will include:
Identifying risks
Identifying insulation materials
Applying insulation materials
Applying sheet metal and various finishes to pipework, ductwork and vessels
Fabricating cladding materials
Hours of work will be 38 hours per week; however, you will be required to work outside these hours from time to time to meet the needs of the business/client.
The successful candidate will be 16+ years and ideally be located in/near Scunthorpe/Lincoln, or within a suitable geographical area for a suitable commute to a predetermined pick up destination or workplace.
