Project: Asbestos Removal in Hangar Roof

Rilmac Asbestos Services as official Amey approved subcontractors to Henry Brothers was contracted to removed 5000m2 of asbestos cement profile roof sheets from Hangar One at RAF Waddington.

With power, access and MOD clearance provided Rilmac supplied, among general equipment and controlled Work Areas, A scissor lift, suitable waste containers for the over 70 tonnes of waste, and independent air monitoring.  A team of six highly trained Rilmac operatives worked on site for a total of Eleven weeks in a safe and efficient manner.

During the planned removal additional contaminated materials, including a hessian type fibre mat and remnants of a previous asbestos tiled roof, were discovered.  This expanded the scope of the project and was added to the Rilmac contract and quickly expediated, thus reducing disruption and avoiding delay for the trades following on behind the Rilmac team.

The client was completely satisfied, having no site safety related issues and all deadlines met, including variations added.
