Rilmac SHEQ Manager, Mick Davenport, has recently added to his portfolio of skills by becoming a qualified Basic Scaffold Inspector. As part of Mick’s remit is to advise and oversee safety across the Rilmac Divisions and when the opportunity to earn a relevant qualification in basic scaffolding inspection arrived he jumped at the chance. The three day course, provided by Generation Training, in Wakefield will allow Mick to inspect basic scaffolding that has been built to TG20.
The qualification of Basic Scaffold Inspector also provides Mick with a CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspectors card. The card, which is valid for a period of five years, allows Mick to inspect basic scaffolding structures in accordance to the Work at Height Regulations 2005. The course included training methods, public protection, mobile towers, internal birdcage scaffolds, bridging beams and tagging systems. The contents of the course meets with British and European Industry Standards and is based around the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation’s (NASC) technical and safety guidance publications.
“I believe it’s important to be up to date on all the latest developments in working practices,” said Mick, “especially where safety is concerned. I like to have a wide and detailed knowledge on all areas covered by my work in SHEQ with Rilmac and this qualification certainly adds to it.”
