Rilmac focus on the application of protective coating systems that consistently provide excellent corrosion control, great value and minimal risk to employees and the environment.  Rilmac Fabrication can apply shot blasting, surface preparation and industrial paint spraying to products we manufacture, to meet both decorative and functional requirements. We tend to work to customer’s individual specifications and where requested, work in conjunction with paint manufacturers to ensure our customer’s requirements are surpassed.

Rilmac also provide Abrasive Blasting to SA 2.5 standard in controlled, dust-free, recyclable booths. Once prepared, we can provide a range of paint coatings by means of conventional, airless or manual spray coating technologies in our heated paint booths.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Shot blasting is a highly effective process that uses compressed air to force abrasive material through a jet nozzle. Shot blasting is a fast and effective way of cleaning or preparing surfaces prior to coating. We use chilled iron grit to achieve SA Standards 1, 2.5 or 3 depending on customer specification.

Eighty percent or more of all coating adhesion failures can be directly attributed to improper surface preparation. Rilmac ensure this process is controlled and components that require coating are done so in a controlled environment. Therefore, spraying can commence within four hours to prevent oxidisation.

PAINT SPRAYING

Our paint booths are sufficiently large enough to accommodate most sizes of components. We are able to apply customer specified paints including colours from the RAL and BS ranges in our spray booths using airless and air assisted paint equipment. We are able to utilise the following range of systems:

  • Alkyd Systems
  • Single and Two Pack Epoxies
  • Intumescent Coatings

Our inspectors have the capabilities to carry out specification review, fault diagnosis and 3rd party inspections by certified NACE inspectors.

As part of our environmental commitment, we recycle all our solvents and also steel, paint tins, swarf, wooden pallets, cardboard and paper. Rilmac also encourage their clients as part of our sustainability drive, to make use of low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) paint products and natural abrasive media.
